OCEAN GROVE — The Historical Society of Ocean Grove will hold its annual spring fundraising auction at 11 a.m. May 28 at the Youth Temple of the Camp Meeting Association. Previews will be held from 9-11 a.m. Auction proceeds will benefit the Historical Society.

New features this year include auctioneer Art Kravetz of Kravetz Auctions presiding over the event. Kravetz is a skilled auctioneer known for “moving things along,” so attendees can expect an exciting, fast-moving event this year.

“Experience” auctions will also be offered, where high bidders will have opportunities to experience Ocean Grove in unique ways. Several packages will be offered, including a Fourth of July VIP experience at Day’s Ice Cream, dinner in the Tali Esen Morgan House and a VIP parade event.

An exclusive 2016 Ocean Grove beach towel will be given to a high bidder. The towel cannot be purchased anywhere, so the recipient will own the only one of its kind.

The auction will include antiques and collectibles and a wide array of rare Ocean Grove memorabilia. Items offered this year include a mirror from the old North End bathhouse etched with an advertisement for the former Homestead Restaurant on the Ocean Grove boardwalk; an “Admission 50 cents” sign from the old Strand movie theater; a souvenir “Ocean Grove” ruby flash glassware from the 1890s; salvaged gingerbread trim from an Ocean Grove tent; 19th-century printing blocks used for Ocean Grove Camp Meeting annual reports; vintage dishware from the North End Hotel and more. Some auction items are on view in the window of the Historical Society’s museum at 50 Pitman Ave., Ocean Grove.

For more information about the auction, contact the Historical Society at 732-774-1869.
