Church carnival will kick off June 14

The Immaculate Conception Church 10th Anniversary Carnival is planned for 6-11 p.m. June 14-17 and 5-11 p.m. June 18 on the church grounds, 23 Manalapan Road, Spotswood. Admission is free of charge.

The event will feature carnival rides and games of chance for all ages; a beer garden; a food pavilion with specials (June 14, pulled pork; June 15, sausage and peppers; June 16, ribs; June 17, fish fry); carnival treats including zeppole, ice cream, funnel cakes and fried Oreos; live nightly entertainment featuring local rock bands and dance performances; and appearances by radio stations. The winner of the Big-Bucks Raffle ($100 per ticket, 3,000 sold) will be drawn June 17; winner need not be present. There will be nightly and weekly jackpot 50/50 drawings and a weekly calendar-raffle drawing.

The Carnival Kids Tent will offer face painting and tattoos. A scavenger hunt will take place June 14. Hunt entry fee is $5 for a team of two; prizes will be awarded. A fireworks extravaganza is planned for June 18 after dark.

Live entertainment will include appearances by Kicoma, 8 p.m., June 14; Academy of Music and Dance Teen Rock Bands, 6 p.m., June 15; Gypsy Moon, 7 p.m., June 16; The Sweater Pills, 7 p.m., June 17; and Good to Go, 7 p.m., June 18. The Rhythm in Motion Cloggers will perform at 6 p.m. June 16.

Bracelet Nights will be June 14 and 16 — pay one price and ride all night. ICS Spirit Night is June 14. Alumni Night is June 17 — all Immaculate Conception graduates are invited to reunite with friends.

Advance $10 ride tickets are available for purchase after all Masses at Immaculate Conception Church or during school hours in the school lobby. Ride tickets also may be purchased in advance at Especially For You Florist, 302 Spotswood Englishtown Road, Spotswood; and Tekniques Salon, Loehmanns Plaza, 233 Route 18 South, East Brunswick.

The Saint Peter’s University Hospital (New Brunswick) Community Mobile Health Unit will provide blood-pressure screenings and information on breast health 6-8 p.m. June 16.
