The Cougar Basketball Camp, sponsored by Colts Neck Parks and Recreation, will be held in three sessions at Colts Neck High School.
Session I is June 27-July 1 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for girls ages 7-14. Session II is July 11-15 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for boys and girls ages 7-17. Session III is July 18-22 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for boys and girls ages 7-14.
Colts Neck High School’s head boys basketball coach Lou Piccola will direct an experienced staff of high school coaches and high school and college players.
The primary emphasis of the camp is developing a player’s fundamental skills through instruction, both individual and group, through drills, lectures and game experience. Players will be grouped by physical maturity and previous experience.

The Freehold Area Running Club kicks off the 34th year of its Summer 5K Race Series June 22 at the historic Battle of Monmouth State Park on Route 33 in Manalapan.
In addition to the 5k race, there will be half-mile and mile runs for those ages 8 and up.

Approximately 80 sought-after positions as ballpersons for the 2016 U.S. Tennis Open are up for grabs June 23, with people competing for spots. Prospective ballpersons will be evaluated by U.S. Open officials on their running, throwing and catching skills at the Grandstand Stadium, USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Flushing, New York.
Participants can register on-site at the National Tennis Center beginning at 3 p.m. The evaluation process will begin at approximately 4 p.m., after a welcome by U.S. Open Ballperson Director Tina Taps and a veteran ballperson demonstration.

The 2016 U.S. Open Qualifying Tournament will be held Aug. 23-26. The 2016 U.S. Open main draw will be held Aug. 29 through Sept. 11.
