It has been 43 years since the five-member Township Committee in Freehold Township has had a Democratic member. Over 40 years! Where are the checks and balances in our local government? As a Democrat living in Freehold Township, I feel like my concerns have not been addressed. I am tired of a one-party town.
I encourage all Democrats, as well as independents, to turn out this year and change this pattern of Republican domination in our local government. We need balance and transparency restored to our Township Committee.
The good news is that the Democrats have a strong candidate this year who wants to bring about this change. Let’s all work this summer and fall to help elect Richard Pelaia to the Township Committee in Freehold Township.
