Enforcement detail reminds motorists to stop for pedestrians

EAST BRUNSWICK – Officers assigned to the East Brunswick Police Department’s Special Operations Division will conduct pedestrian crosswalk enforcement details throughout the township.

The targeted enforcement details, which use plainclothes officers, are aimed at fostering the public’s awareness of pedestrian safety, according to information provided by the department. Enforcement locations will be random throughout the township.

Motorists are reminded that they must stop for pedestrians in a marked crosswalk and must remain stopped until that pedestrian has finished crossing.

Pedestrians are also reminded that they are to obey pedestrian traffic control systems and cross only when advised.
