Metuchen ignores public safety hazard

At the southeast corner of Amboy/Eggert Avenues the sidewalk is badly damaged. The cause is the chronic traffic of big trucks jumping the curb as they turn onto Eggert. The intersection is poorly marked with No Big Truck Traffic signs — routinely ignored. The police do not patrol the site nor enforce the restriction despite my numerous detailed reports of violations.

Though put on notice of the sidewalk safety hazard on numerous occasions, the borough does nothing. The crime of their inaction is the blatant risk to the public — as I routinely see oldsters with walkers (Redfield Village seniors) and kids with bikes en route to the nearby Greenway struggle to navigate the crumbling concrete. It’s just a matter of time before there’s an injury. And why?
