New Jersey Repertory Company announces playwriting and acting classes

New Jersey Repertory Company announces playwriting and acting classes will be held this fall in the new West End Performing Arts Center, 132 West End Ave., Long Branch.

Intro to Acting, Advanced Acting and Playwriting courses will be taught by accredited professionals in their field. Anyone can apply from beginners to experienced. Learn improvisational skills by using traditional theatrical techniques. Writers of all levels are encouraged to learn playwriting basics and practice techniques for effective storytelling.

New Jersey Repertory’s Literary Manager, Joel Stone, will teach Playwriting from 6:30 p.m.–9:15 p.m. on Oct. 20, Oct. 27, Nov. 3, Nov. 10, Nov. 17, Dec. 1 and Dec. 8. The cost for eight classes is $275.

Gail Winar will teach Intro to Acting from 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m. on Oct. 19, Oct. 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 9, Nov. 16, Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14. The cost for eight classes is $275. This class is a fun way for beginners to dip their toes into the actors’ pool. Learn basic acting skills and techniques to loosen your core and get into character by performing technical exercises, cold readings, script analysis, improvisation and scene performances.

Wendy Peace will teach Acting in the Afternoon from 3 p.m.–5 p.m. on Oct. 18, Oct. 25, Nov. 1, Nov. 10, Nov. 15, Nov. 29, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13. The cost for eight classes is $275. Learn character development, script analysis, monologue study, and contemporary and classic scene studies.

Advanced Acting, also instructed by Wendy Peace, will be held from 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m. Oct. 18, Oct. 25, Nov. 1, Nov. 10, Nov. 15, Nov. 29, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13. The cost for eight classes is $275.
