Matawan Day 2016 to be held Sept. 24

Mayor Joseph Altomonte announced “Matawan Day 2016” will be held from noon-5 p.m. on Sept. 24 on Main Street, Matawan.

A parade honoring the Olympic Bronze Medalist in fencing, Monica Aksamit, will begin at noon at Terhune Park and Main Street and end at Ravine Drive and Main Street. At the end of the parade,  the Mayor and guests will present the Matawan resident, Aksamit,with a key to the town of Matawan and a proclamation. Monica will greet Matawan Day visitors and sign autographs as well.

Over 100 vendors, local restaurants, food trucks, and children’s rides will be featured. Firetrucks, EMT, police, CERT, and the Monmouth County Sheriff’s office will also be there.

The event is sponsorerd by Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce. The rain date is Sept. 25.
