We are writing this letter as an open invitation to the good people of Metuchen to take a stroll or a drive down Barnstable Street to see what our town zoning board and Fox & Foxx have done to our neighborhood.
They have created a monstrosity of houses too big, too tall, and too overbearing for the site. All we see from our decks and windows are looming structures built without regard for light, space or simple aesthetics.
Did we protest when we had the chance? Of course we did. Our whole neighborhood attended three meetings. Some people actually cried, but we lost.
Shame on you for what you have done to what was once a lovely part of Metuchen.
We spent most of our careers teaching here and we raised our family here. We do not recognize much of it now. Of course new buildings have to be raised but what they have done to Barnstable is an utter disgrace.
