Eric Fricks was sworn in as a full-time police officer with the Helmetta Police Department in front of his family and friends during the Sept. 21 council meeting.

Mayor Christopher Slavicek and the council welcomed the new officer with a cake.

Fricks is a graduate of Ocean County College where he received his associate’s degree in liberal arts. He had previously served as a special law enforcement officer in the Borough of Mantoloking, Ocean County.

Slavicek said Fricks is ready to meet the challenges of the ever-changing profession of law enforcement and to do good for the people of the borough.
