Rights of veterans will be discussed at free public seminar

The New Jersey State Bar Foundation will address the needs and rights of veterans from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 9 at the New Jersey Law Center, 1 Constitution Square, off Ryders Lane, New Brunswick.

The seminar will cover topics such as the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act; New Jersey’s military custody statute; domestic violence issues impacting veterans and active duty service members; the connection between PTSD, substance abuse, joblessness and homelessness; claiming VA benefits; and the importance of characterization of discharge.
A question-and-answer period will follow the presentations.
Speakers will include Thomas Roughneen, Esq. of Thomas Roughneen & Associates, Counsellors at Law, LLC, in Chatham; Michael J. Fleres, Esq., an associate at the law firm of Paras, Apy & Reiss, P.C. in Red Bank; and Sally Stenton, Esq. of the Law Offices of Robert A. Ebberup, LLC in Toms River.
