The World Mission Sunday Family Celebration, sponsored by the diocesan Office of the Pontifical Mission Societies, will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.  on Oct. 23. A 10 a.m. registration and 11 a.m. start of the one-mile walk and prayer service will take place at the CYO Building at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, 520 Main St. and Library Place, Metuchen. Noon Mass will be held at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, 32 Elm Ave., Metuchen.

The Most Rev. James F. Checchio, Bishop of the Diocese of Metuchen, will serve as the celebrant and homilist at the Mass. Rev. Msgr. Richard Behl, director of the diocesan Office of Pontifical Mission Societies, will serve as the concelebrant. Proceeds from the walk-a-thon will benefit the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA), a Pontifical Mission Society. The Mass will be immediately followed by a simple mission-style lunch. After the lunch, the winner of the MCA-sponsored art contest will be announced and the top three schools and religious education programs of the diocese will be recognized for their commitment to MCA.
