JACKSON – Officers from the Jackson Police Department will host their annual “Fill a Truck” toy drive to ensure that every child receives a gift for Christmas.
The toy drive will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 17 in the parking lot of ShopRite, 260 N. County Line Road, Jackson, according to a press release. Police are asking members of the community to drop off unwrapped toys at that time.
Guests at the toy drop-off will be able to take a photo with Santa Claus from noon to 2:30 p.m.
The toy drive is sponsored by the Jackson PBA Local 168.
Sgt. Edward Bennett, who is coordinating the toy drive, said the goal of the project is to help parents who may not be able to provide toys to their children.
“Needy families come to us looking for help with toy donations,” he said. “With this toy drive we are hoping to help as many families as possible.”
Bennett said the toys that are collected by the PBA will be delivered to families and hospitals. He said the police helped almost 90 families last year. Bennett said the Jackson police have been involved in charitable efforts for more than 20 years.
