COLTS NECK – Michael Taylor has been appointed to fill an open seat on the Colts Neck K-8 School District Board of Education.

The opening was created when Irene Sessa resigned from the panel in October. District administrators asked residents who were interested in serving on the board to make their intentions known.

In November, board members interviewed the two residents who sought the appointment – Taylor and Charlie Placek.

On Dec. 7, Taylor was appointed to the board and was sworn into office by Business Administrator/Board Secretary Vincent Marasco. Taylor will complete Sessa’s term, which ends in January 2018.

Taylor is a native of Tinton Falls. He has lived in Colts Neck for a year with his wife, Lori, son Kenny, 22, and daughter, Scarlett, 3. Taylor has worked in the insurance industry for more than 30 years.

“I am pleased to join the Colts Neck Board of Education to complete the unexpired term (created) by the resignation of Irene Sessa,” Taylor said. “The Colts Neck public schools have a well deserved reputation as one of the finest public school systems in the state.

“I have been greatly impressed by the talent, professionalism and commitment of the administrative team and current board members. I hope to add to the diverse perspectives of the board and expect to leverage my parental and professional experiences to contribute to the board’s work in shaping policy that responds to the evolving needs of our students and community,” he said.
