Lurie is professor emerita of history at Seton Hall University, South Orange. She co-edited the “Encyclopedia of New Jersey” and “Mapping New Jersey,” as well as two editions of “A New Jersey Anthology.” Lurie previously collaborated with Veit on “New Jersey: A History of the Garden State.”

Veit, who is the chair of the Department of History and Anthropology at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, is the author of “Digging New Jersey’s Past” and the co-author of “New Jersey Cemeteries and Tombstones: History in the Landscape,” as well as a co-editor with Lurie of “New Jersey: A History of the Garden State.”

“Envisioning New Jersey” provides a robust introduction to the history of the Garden State from prehistoric times to the present, with readable narratives and pages filled with 650 images such as maps, photographs, postcards, images of historic paintings and more, according to the press release. An extensive index encourages use as a reference source for all things New Jersey.
