A new year meant the Hazlet Land Use Board had to make decisions regarding who would lead the group as chairman, vice chair, secretary, attorney and engineer in 2017.

These decisions and more were made at a Land Use Board Reorganization meeting on Jan. 5 that was open to the public.

The meeting began at 7:30 p.m. at the Hazlet Municipal Building, and the board decided Jeff Tyler will remain as chairman of the Land Use Board and appointed Mike Sachs as vice chairman. Laura McPeek will remain as the board secretary, Greg Villa the attorney and CME the engineer firm, with Kurt Otto representing the company for the meeting.

After establishing the remaining meeting dates for 2017, the board had a carryover case.

M&S Waste Services had requested a 60-day extension Dec. 1, but it was asking for another 60-day extension to complete its site plan. Villa explained the legal ramifications for the case and how it would help M&S and the board if the extension was granted.

The board agreed and M&S did receive its 60-day extension.

The next Land Use Board meeting will be Jan. 19.
