Middletown’s Karcz secures another rookie honor at Loyola

Loyola University Maryland freshman Stephanie Karcz has picked up her league-leading fourth The Rock Patriot League Rookie of the Week accolade, as announced by the league office Feb. 6.

The former Middletown High School South girls’ basketball star contributed 39 points, 16 rebounds and six steals in a pair of road games at Lehigh University and Army last week.

Karcz recorded her fourth collegiate double-double in a 86-69 loss at Lehigh Feb. 1, including finishing the contest with a game-high 13 rebounds. She followed it Feb. 4 with a career-high 23 points and tied a personal best with five steals in the Greyhounds’ 67-48 loss at Army.

For the season, Karcz is second on the team with 10.2 points and first with 6.4 rebounds per game. She also leads the squad with 55 steals and is third with 35 assists.
