Schools lockdown lifted after incident at Brunswick Square Mall

EAST BRUNSWICK – East Brunswick schools were put on lockdown due to an incident at the Brunswick Square Mall.

Around 2:56 p.m. on Feb. 8, police responded to the shopping mall on Route 18 for an active criminal investigation, according to information provided by the East Brunswick Police Department.

The department put the surrounding schools in a “shelter in place,” which has since been lifted.

There is an active investigation, but there were no injuries or immediate danger to the public, according to police.

The statement said more information will be released as it becomes available.
