JACKSON – Organized groups from outside the community are now prohibited from using the Jackson spray park in the Jackson Justice Complex.

On Feb. 14, the Township Council adopted an ordinance which states that “individuals and families are welcome. No organized groups (are) allowed, with the exception of Jackson Township recreation sponsored groups.”
Residents of any municipality may use the spray park and there is no fee to use the facility, according to Councilman Scott Martin.
Council President Kenneth Bressi said the decision to prohibit organized groups from outside of Jackson from using the spray park was made to ensure that township recreation sponsored groups would be able to use the spray park in order to avoid overcrowding.
“If we let too many outside groups use the spray park there will be no room for the township sponsored groups,” Bressi said.
Councilman Barry Calogero said the tentative 2017 schedule calls for the spray park to be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends only from May 27 through June 25 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from June 26 through Sept. 3.
No one from the public commented on the ordinance during the public hearing that preceded the council’s adoption of the measure.
In other business, the council renewed the following mobile home park licenses for 2017: Fountainhead Mobile Park (Fountainhead Properties Inc.), Oak Tree Mobile Home Park (Allied Ordnance) and Maple Glen Mobile Home Park (MGM Jackson LLC.). Silver Pine Park (formerly known as Shady Oak Mobile Home Park) was issued a six-month conditional mobile home park license.
