Lt. Thomas Cassidy said on March 3 that the investigation is still open and ongoing, so he was not able to share details, but did disclose that the police presence was in response to an armed robbery.

While police were on the scene, school administrators, he said, were not required to follow formal lockdown procedures, but were advised not to let children leave school grounds.
