• The early costume collection of the Monmouth County Historical Association will be featured in an all-day seminar to be held on 8 April at the association’s museum in Freehold Borough. The program is titled “Whatever Shall We Wear: 18th and Early 19th Century Clothing and Accessories in Monmouth County.” Registration fee of $125 per person includes lunch. • Freehold High School will honor the newest inductees into the school’s Hall of Fame at 6 p.m. April 27 at the American Hotel. The honorees are the 1953 and 1954 undefeated football teams; Scott Preston, class of 1982, soccer; Michael DeLucia, class of 1996, football; and Jennifer Towers, class of 2004, soccer, basketball, softball. • Brookdale Community College will hold its annual spring open house on April 2 at noon in the Collins Arena, 765 Newman Springs Road (Route 520), Lincroft. High school students, career-changers and residents of all ages are invited to meet with Brookdale staff, ask questions and explore more than 50 degree and career training programs offered through the college. • The Marlboro Library, Wyncrest Road, Marlboro, will present the film “Swim Team,” which chronicles the rise of the Jersey Hammerheads, a competitive swim team of diverse autistic teens. • Laurel McLaughlin, art historian at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, will present a program about World War I and American Art at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan, at 2 p.m. March 23. McLaughlin will discuss the war and how it impacted art and culture because of how America’s artists interpreted their experiences, opinions and perceptions in their art. • Boy Scout Troop 180 of Manalapan will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser on March 25 at Neff Chapel at Old Tennent Church. Seatings will be at 4:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for children ages 4-10, and free for children 3 and under. • Freehold VFW Post 4374 will host a dinner to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on March 18 from 4-7 p.m. at 50 Waterworks Road, Freehold. The cost for a dinner platter is $10. Tickets may be purchased at the door. All are welcome to attend.

• The Colts Neck Shade Tree Commission will distribute seedlings to Colts Neck residents from 9-11 a.m. April 8 at Town Hall. This is the third year in the five-year tree recovery campaign sponsored by the New Jersey Forestry Service. The Colts Neck “5,000 in 5 years” will provide a variety of tree seedlings to residents (up to five per resident) and guidance for successful transfer.

• The Knights of Columbus will host a breakfast buffet on March 26 from 8-11:30 a.m. at their Council Hall, 70 E. Main St., Freehold. The “all you can eat” breakfast costs $7 for adults, $4 for children under 12 and $20 for a family of four. Omelette station, plain cheese omelette, $1 extra, omelette of choice, $2. • LADACIN Network will hold its 36th annual Rosebud Gala dinner dance on March 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Eatontown Hotel. • The Monmouth County Audubon Society will host a walk at Seven Presidents Park, Long Branch, at 10 a.m. April 30 to look at nesting shorebirds and to examine the role of the shorebird monitor program in the birds’ protection. Meet at 10 a.m. in the north parking lot (corner of Ocean Avenue North and Atlantic Avenue) outside the Skateplex. All are welcome to attend. • Embroiderers’ Guild of America-Monmouth Chapter welcomes stitchers of all levels. There are sit and stitch tables at each meeting, as well as special projects. • The Monmouth County Audubon Society will host a bird walk on Sandy Hook on April 15. The peninsula of Sandy Hook acts as a natural funnel to north-flying migrants. • A meeting of the Monmouth County Retired Educators Association will be held at 11 a.m. April 4 at the Radisson, 50 Gibson Place, Freehold Township. A pre-sale will be held from 9-10 a.m. March 17 ($5 donation). There is a $5 scanner fee. Free entry from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 17 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 18. • The sisterhoods of Temple Rodeph Torah and the Marlboro Jewish Center will present an evening with Jessica Fishman, author of “Chutzpah and High Heels: The Search for Love and Identity in the Holy Land” at 7:30 p.m. March 30 at Temple Rodeph Torah, Marlboro. Her book is a memoir about the difficulties, absurdities and excitement of making a home in a new country. All are welcome to attend. Coffee and dessert will be served. Admission: $5.
