COLTS NECK – Steven De Caesar has joined the Colts Neck Police Department. He was sworn in as a member of the force by Mayor Russell Macnow during the March 29 meeting of the Township Committee.
De Caesar is a graduate of Monmouth University, West Long Branch, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
He graduated from the Ocean County Class II Police Academy in May 2014 and subsequently worked as a Class II special officer in Seaside Heights, Monmouth Beach and Jamesburg, according to municipal officials.
Police Chief Kevin Sauter said Sgt. Christian DeVito left Colts Neck to accept a position with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
“I would like to commend all my officers for being here and for the job they do every day doing more with less,” Sauter said. “The guys do a great job not only in the department, but in the community as well.”
“The men and women of the Colts Neck Police Department are some of the best in the state, if not the best,” Macnow said. “Colts Neck was ranked as the 16th safest municipality of the state’s 500-plus municipalities and the only municipality in Monmouth County to be ranked in the top 50. So you (De Caesar) are joining a top-notch police department that keeps this town really safe.”
The police department has 20 officers and officials have plans to hire another officer, according to Macnow.
