Clemente gains college honors in baseball

Nicholas Clemente of East Brunswick, who plays for the Middlesex County College baseball team, has been named the Garden State Athletic Conference Division III Player of the Week.

Clemente finished last week with four hits in 14 at-bats, including  a double, a triple and a home run. He also collected five RBIs and five runs.

On the mound, the freshman right-hander earned a complete-game victory against Union County College when he pitched a four-hitter and did not allow an earned run while he struck out nine. He also picked up two saves against Brookdale Community College.

For the week pitching, he recorded 11.2 innings when he allowed one earned run and struck out 16.
