UPPER FREEHOLD – Republican Township Committeeman Dr. Robert Frascella has filed a nominating petition to seek re-election and will be challenged by Democrat Elliot Wiesner.
One three-year term on the Township Committee will be on the ballot on Nov. 7 in Upper Freehold Township.
Frascella’s current term will end on Dec. 31. He is serving as Upper Freehold’s mayor during 2017.
Frascella, who is a dentist, has resided in the township for 13 years and has served on the governing body for nine years. In addition to serving on the committee, he has been a member of the Planning Board.
“I wish to continue to work to keep Upper Freehold a financially stable municipality,” he said. “I will continue to support the rural agricultural character of Upper Freehold as it is proclaimed in our country code. It is my pleasure to serve the residents of Upper Freehold in my capacity as a committeeman, and this year, as mayor.”
Wiesner, an attorney, is making his first bid for public office. He has resided in the township since 2005 and been an appointed member of the township’s Environmental Advisory Committee since 2011.
“I have lived in this beautiful township since 2005,” Wiesner said. “I feel it is time to get more directly involved in its day-to-day operations to continue to maintain its rural character.”
Republicans hold all five seats on the Township Committee.
