Criteria for individuals named 2017 CFO of the Year included demonstration of excellence within the role of CFO; innovative cost-reduction approaches; excellence in financial strategy; profit and company revenue growth since being in the role; and extensive industry experience. Information was gathered from local and national press, industry journals, client recommendations and testimonials and internal news channels.

As CFO of Preferred Home Health Care & Nursing Services, a company that provides a wide range of medical and nonmedical home health-care services from pediatric to geriatric care throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Thiede is responsible for the entirety of corporate finance. He oversees the management of more than 150 corporate employees and more than 1,500 external nurses, among other duties.

Thiede was instrumental in helping steer Preferred’s growth into new markets that have diversified its revenue stream. He was the architect behind Preferred’s largest acquisition, the Massachusetts-based Acelleron Medical Products. This acquisition expanded the company’s reach into New England and broadened its product line to include durable medical equipment.
