Harpist will visit Old Bridge from Ireland on July 19

Harpist Michael Rooney will make a rare U.S. appearance at the Old Bridge Library at 7 p.m. on July 19.

A Senior All-Ireland Harp champion, Rooney was raised in Ireland and is a music graduate of Queen’s University, Belfast. In addition to performing, he is a tutor, composer and producer of Irish music. He was a recipient of the 2017 Gradam Ceoil Composer of the Year award, which acknowledges excellence in traditional Irish music.

Rooney spent three years working for Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, an organization that promotes Irish traditional music, and produced the Comhaltas tours of Britain, Ireland and America during that time.
