JACKSON – Investigators from the Jackson Police Department are attempting to identify residents whose vehicles may have been entered.

Police said that at 3:19 a.m. Aug. 31, officers Cherrick Daniels and Christopher Schinder responded to a home on Leesville Road in the area of Toshi Court after a resident reported that she had been awakened by her dog barking and saw an unidentified man walking near her vehicle. There was no report of the vehicle being entered or any items missing.

The officers checked the area and found a 29-year-old man walking a short distance from the house. Police said the man had an outstanding warrant from Howell and he was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

A duffel bag the man was carrying was found to contain more than $130 cash, jewelry, electronics, clothing and other items. Police said the items appeared to be the potential proceeds of vehicle burglaries that had not been reported at the time the man was located.

The man was processed and released on the warrant. The items from the duffel bag were logged into evidence pending investigation, according to police.

Anyone in the Leesville Road area who believes their vehicle may have been entered is asked to contact Detective Scott Conover at 732-928-1111.
