The Metuchen Arts Council will hold a dedication at 2 p.m. Oct. 8 to celebrate the completion of the Metuchen Community Mural at Oakland Park tennis courts on the corner of Grove and Oakland Avenues.

In 2014, the Metuchen Arts Council invited the entire community to participate in the community-wide public arts project to help in the creation of a permanent piece of public art by “getting their hands in clay.”

Ceramic artist Linda Vonderschmidt-LaStella, of Earthsongs Studio, Metuchen, led the four-year endeavor to create four murals on a storage building in Metuchen’s Oakland Park. Each side of the four-sided building depicts the activities of “Summer,” “Fall,” “Winter,” and “Spring” specific to Metuchen.
