South Brunswick upsets Manalapan in state football playoff final

South Brunswick High School upset Manalapan High School, 18-14, to win the Central Jersey, Group 5 state sectional football playoff title at High Point Solutions Stadium at Rutgers University in Piscataway on Dec. 2.

Jaylan Lawson scored the winning TD when he took in a a 17-yard scoring pass with 53 seconds lef tin the final period. he also picked off a pass in the end zone earlier in the fourth quarter to keep South Brunswick alive.

Both teams end the year with an 11-1 record.
