Doctor to discuss how food can be used as medicine

Brandeis University Middlesex Chapter will hold a meeting at 1 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the East Brunswick Library, Civic Center Drive off of Ryders Lane, East Brunswick.
The topic will be “Culinary Medicine: Using Food as Medicine to Optimize Your Health.”
Dr. Laura Micek-Galinat, board-certified in Family and Integrative Medicine, and one of the first 10 health professionals to receive certification as a culinary medicine specialist, will discuss healthy lifestyles, cooking and mind-body medicine. Micek-Galinat is assistant director of RWJ Somerset Family Practice and associate professor of Clinical Family Medicine at Rutgers RWJ Medical School.
The program is free and open to all.
The December social justice collection will collect hats, scarves, gloves and mittens for Women Aware and a New Brunswick Men’s shelter.
