Applications for South Brunswick Citizen Police Academy due Feb. 23

Applications are available for the spring South Brunswick Citizen Police Academy, which will begin on March 15 and be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays for 11 weeks at police headquarters, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

The academy will offer training on a range of law enforcement topics including motor vehicle laws, criminal law and use of force. Citizens will learn about crime scene processing, defensive tactics and internal affairs.

The academy will culminate with a day of practical exercises where students will handle simulated motor vehicle stops, disputes and other realistic scenarios. Graduation is set for May 24.

Community members must complete an application and go through a screening process. Email Julie Trammell at CPA@sbtnj.net by Feb. 23.
