The South Brunswick Library will celebrate its 50th birthday on April 29.

Beginning at 2 p.m., a flagpole dedication will be held in memory of the late Mayor Frank Gambatese, who passed away in March 2017. He was the longest-serving mayor in township history, serving in his fourth four-year term when he passed. He and his wife Ellen, who passed away in 2012, were active library supporters and trustees. A room in the Children’s Department is named for her.

A less formal celebration will continue inside after the dedication. There will be a large display of complimentary cupcakes in the main lobby, courtesy of volunteers who participated in the South Brunswick Public Library Cupcake Wars last month.

In the Children’s Department, children can participate in a traditional birthday party complete with cake, treats, games, crafts, music, party favors and a time capsule.

The library is located at 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.
