• The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation’s Memorial Day Ceremony will take place on May 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1 Memorial Lane, Holmdel, Exit 116 off the Garden State Parkway. The Vietnam Era Museum and Educational Center will be open to the public free of charge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. An “In Memory” program will honor those who served in Vietnam and returned home, but later died as a result of their tour. All are welcome to attend the ceremony.

• The Allentown Public Library has announced that the Allentown afghans, which were created and sold by the Women’s Association of Allentown, are now available for the first time since 2008. The afghans were designed by Joanne Tourine and show nine historic structures, including the Imlay Mansion, Gov. Newell’s home, the Presbyterian Church, Abel Cafferty’s Mill house and the iconic mill and the Allentown Baptist Church that is now home to the library. The afghans are available in hunter green, cranberry and colonial blue. They are available for purchase at the library, 16 S. Main Street. All proceeds benefit the Allentown Public Library Association in support of the library building.

• A yard sale fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 30 (rain or shine) at 24 Baird Road, Millstone Township. Proceeds will support the Thomas Baird Homestead Cultural Resource Center and Agricultural Museum in Millstone Township. Donations to the sale are tax deductible. Volunteers to help on the day of the sale are needed. Donations may be brought to the Baird House barn by scheduling an appointment the week of June 11. • Saint Monica’s community yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 2 at the Switlik School parking lot (new location), 75 W. Veterans Highway, Jackson. Vendor setup from 7-8 a.m. Vendor prices: 10-foot space, $15; two spaces, $25. Vendors and crafters welcome. All proceeds benefit needed repairs at St. Monica Church. • CentraState Healthcare System, Freehold Township, in partnership with VNA Health Group, is offering “Ladies Night Out,” an evening of relaxation and good health for women and their friends age 40 and older, on June 5 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. There will be hors d’oeuvres and wine, free breast exams and mammogram screenings for uninsured participants or those who meet qualifying criteria, and a nurse practitioner available for mammogram prescriptions and to answer women’s health questions. • A fashion show and luncheon hosted by Pink Ribbons of Central New Jersey to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure will be held June 12 at noon at the Battleground Country Club, Manalapan. • The Upper Freehold-Allentown Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse will present Bike Night 2018 from 5:30 p.m. June 13 at the Roost at the Cream Ridge Golf Course, 181 Route 539, Cream Ridge. All makes and models of motorcycles are welcome. There will be door prizes, judging and awards. American and Metric bikes welcome. Music, food, beverages. All are welcome to attend. • The Allentown Lions Club will host the borough’s Memorial Day parade, rain or shine, at 10:30 a.m. May 28. Visit www.AllentownLionsClub.com for more details. Parade attendees should arrive by 9:45 a.m. due to Main Street and High Street road closures. A memorial
service will follow the parade on the Newell Elementary School grounds. There will be a children’s bicycle contest sponsored by Bruno’s Bike Shop at the corner of Allen Drive and North Main Street prior to the start of the parade. • The 12th annual clambake fundraiser sponsored by the Millstone Township Agricultural Advisory Council and the Open Space and Farmland Preservation Council will be held on June 10 at Wagner Farm Park. • Center Players Dessert Theater will welcome Uncle Floyd Vivino for performances on June 9 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Center Playhouse, 35 South St., Freehold. • The Allentown library, 16 S. Main St., Allentown, will present a program about “Estate Planning – Sorting Fact from Fiction” at 6:30 p.m. June 12. Attorney Paul R. Daniele will discuss wills, living wills, powers of attorney, estate taxes, trusts and asset protection. Daniele is a member of the Elder Law Section of the New Jersey Bar Association and a member of Lawyers with Purpose, a national organization that deals with estate planning. • A meeting of the Monmouth County Retired Educators Association will be held at 11 a.m. June 5 at the Spring Lake Manor, Spring Lake. Installation of officers will take place. The  annual philanthropic award will be presented. The association is collecting backpacks and school supplies for Bridges At The Shore for distribution prior to the upcoming school year, as well as non-perishable donations for the local food bank. • The Cream Ridge Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. May 30 at the New Egypt firehouse, 59 Main St. New Egypt.  All lot owners are invited to attend the meeting. Details: 609-758-8663.

• Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary, Upper Freehold Township, will host a flea market, craft sale and garage sale from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 23. All are welcome to attend; admission is free. Proceeds will benefit the senior dogs who reside at Marty’s Place.

• The United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, 211 Millstone Road, will host a Vacation Bible School, “The Water of Life,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the week of June 25. There will be games, music and crafts. The cost is $25 per child (children entering kindergarten through entering sixth grade). Campers must bring lunch. Snacks provided. Details: UPCM.org

• The Monmouth County Board of Elections is seeking poll workers. To qualify, an individual must be a registered voter in Monmouth County and attend a poll worker training class. Individuals will be paid $200 for working a primary election or a general election. Call 732-431-7802, ext. 7150 to register for a training class.

• Monmouth County has scheduled paper shredding events so county residents have opportunities to get rid of old documents and confidential files safely. All shredding events will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. as follows: June 16, Upper Freehold Township, 314 Route 539, municipal building. County residents may bring up to 100 pounds to be shredded. All papers will be shredded on location in the mobile truck. Documents should be free of large binder clips; staples and paper clips may be left on documents. Details: 732-683-8686, ext. 6721.

• The Fresh Air Fund is seeking area residents who would like to host a child this summer through the fund’s Friendly Towns Program. The children participate in activities with their host family during their stay. The Fresh Air Fund has provided free summer experiences to more than 1.8 million New York City children from low-income communities since 1877. Children are boys and girls, ages 7 to 18. • New Jersey Blood Services is in need of volunteers to work blood drives in Ocean and Monmouth counties. Tasks include assisting donors with registration, watching donors for post-donation reactions and responding to their needs. Details: Jan Zepka, 732-616-8741.

• Disabled American Veterans Chapter 74, Freehold, will meet at 7 p.m. May 29 at the American Legion, 62 W. Main St. Freehold. Chapter members, DAV members-at-large who are seeking a chapter and veterans with disabilities who are seeking assistance and advice are welcome to attend the meeting. Dinner of pizza and subs is provided.
