Illustrated lecture on Irving Berlin set for Aug. 21

Historian Marty Schneit will present an illustrated lecture titled “Irving Berlin, An American Institution” at 1 p.m. on Aug. 21 at the Highland Park Senior Center, 220 S. Sixth Ave., Highland Park.

He will tell the story of how Irving Berlin, a Jewish immigrant from Russia, became the classic ragtime to riches story with popular songs like “Puttin’ on the Ritz” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business.”
