Sayreville Library events include history of fiddle, open mic night

Dr. Michael Backes will explore the origins and history of American fiddle music at 6:30 p.m. on July 23 at the Sayreville Library, 1050 Washington Road, Parlin section of Sayreville.

Poets, short story writers, singers and songwriters can share their creations at open mic night at 6:30 p.m. July 25. Visit www.sayrevillelibrary.org for details and ground rules.

The “Hit the Roof” keyboardist and drummer will hit ragtime, swing, the blues, and then head into a rock n’ roll frenzy, all the while explaining the history and icons behind the movements, at 6:30 p.m. on July 26.

All events are free and open to the public, but registration at www.sayrevillelibrary.org is suggested.
