Shore Regional reaches state final in girls’ tennis

Shore Regional High School advanced  all the way to the NJSIAA Group 1 girls’ tennis tournament championship on Oct. 18 at Mercer County Park in West Windsor.

The Blue Devils fell to Mountain Lakes High School, 4-1,in the Group 1 state final.

Shore Regional qualified for the state tournament by winning the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 1 sectional tournament on Oct. 16, beating New Egypt High School, 5-0. Then, in the state semifinals on Oct. 18, Shore topped Woodstown High School, 3-2, at Mercer County Park.

The Blue Devils’ first singles player, senior Charlotte Roarty, capped a memorable career on Oct. 18. She won both of her matches and finished the season with a 24-2 record. Roarty led Shore to three state sectional titles and a state Group 1 crown, in 2015, during her four-year career.
