Stephen Benowitz will lead Bordentown Township as its mayor for the third straight year.
By a unanimous vote from the committee, Benowitz was named mayor when the annual reorganization meeting of the Bordentown Township Committee was held on Jan. 5.
Meanwhile also during the meeting, Eugene Fuzy was appointed to deputy mayor his third consecutive year with a unanimous vote from the committee as well. Benowitz and Fuzy were sworn in by Assemblyman Herb Conoway, Jr. (D-Burlington)
Benowitz and Eric Holliday were sworn in as the elected committeemen by Assemblyman Conaway. This will be Benowitz’s third consecutive term on the committee and Holliday’s second consecutive term on the committee.
Benowitz highlighted many of the township’s accomplishments in 2018 throughout the meeting, including road paving, recreation improvements, grant awards, economic development and the stability of the municipal tax rate.
“The year 2018 was a year of many accomplishments for Bordentown Township and I’m looking forward to continuing these initiatives in the new year,” Benowitz said.
Burlington County Deputy Freeholder Director Balvir Singh was in attendance to congratulate officials. The Bordentown Township Honor Guard presented the colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem and God Bless America were performed as well by retired Command Master Chief of the U.S.Navy, Joseph Eppolito.
All members of the committee addressed the audience with reports from their respective liaison appointments and spoke about their plans for 2019.
