JACKSON – The Jackson Police Department is investigating a series of motor vehicle burglaries and thefts which occurred in the Hampshire Hills neighborhood in the early morning hours of Feb. 3.
The residential development is off North County Line Road between Bartley Road and Piccadilly Drive.
Police said seven residents reported that a vehicle was entered on Lancaster Way. Three residents reported vehicles being entered on Kensington Court. Four vehicles were entered at one home. Vehicles on Chiswick Court, Piccadilly Drive, Sussex Place and Victoria Circle were also reported to have been entered.
Police said it appears all of the vehicles the perpetrators entered were unlocked. No forced entry was reported. In some instances nothing of value was reported stolen, while in other incidents cash in the amount of $10 to $30 was reported stolen.
Police said security images provided to investigators appear to show the suspects were three men wearing hooded sweatshirts, gloves and winter masks.
One resident of Churchill Court reported that a 2018 Nissan was stolen from the driveway during the early morning hours. The owner was unable to locate the key fob. A New Jersey driver’s license and credit cards were reported to have been left in the vehicle.
Police said E-ZPass reported the Nissan passed through the Union toll plaza on the Garden State Parkway just after 5 a.m. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
A second resident of Churchill Court reported having video of a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt attempting to enter vehicles in the driveway, but all of the vehicles were locked.
A third resident of Churchill Court reported that an unlocked vehicle in the driveway had been entered and ransacked, but told police nothing of value was stolen.
One resident of Knightsbridge Place reported that two vehicles were stolen from the driveway – a 2011 BMW and a 2016 Ford were reported to have been left unlocked. The BMW was subsequently found disabled by police on Route 9, Marlboro, and was secured for investigation.
A second resident of Knightsbridge Place reported that a vehicle parked at the residence had been entered.
Jackson residents who observe suspicious activity are asked to call police at 732-928-1111. Police said an officer will be dispatched to investigate reports of suspicious activity.
