Upon their arrival, the officers were advised by the residents that a woman reportedly entered their home and said she had a loaded handgun. The woman allegedly threatened to use the gun if the residents did not give her money, according to police.

During their search of the area, the officers reportedly located a woman outside the house crouching behind a vehicle that was parked in the driveway, according to the statement.

After the woman was reportedly ordered to come out from behind the vehicle, the officers observed her allegedly holding a black handgun. After refusing numerous requests to drop the weapon, according to police, the female finally complied and dropped the handgun, according to the statement.

Aside from allegedly having the loaded handgun, police say the woman was found in possession of hollow point bullets in her pants pockets, according to the statement.

The woman was charged with burglary, robbery, unlawful possession of weapons, possession of weapons for unlawful purposes, obstructing the administration of the law, having prohibited weapons and devices, and possession of burglary tools, according to police.

Police said an investigation determined the residents of the home were reportedly targeted and the incident was not a random act, according to the statement.

The woman was transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick to await a detention hearing.

Anyone with information should call Detective John Kenney at 732-254-9002, ext.109.
