EAST BRUNSWICK – The township and the East Brunswick Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold the first Feast Brunswick Week from July 25 through Aug. 4.

Feast Brunswick Week will provide individuals with a chance to discover or reconnect with East Brunswick’s restaurants. There will be special deals and discounts at participating restaurants, according to municipal officials.

More than a dozen restaurants will participate, including Bar Louie, McDonald’s, Bollywood Tadka, Brothers Pizza and Restaurant, Brunswick Grove, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Colonial Diner, Denny’s, East Brunswick Chinese Restaurant, Hanok, Jersey Shore BBQ, Koy Turkish Grill, Playa Bowls, Red Robin, Spice Paradise Fresh Indian Cuisine, Stewart’s Restaurant and Sweet Berry Bowls.

“We wanted to do anything we could do to help promote some of the restaurants in our town,” Mayor Brad Cohen said. “We wanted to do that in a way that helped promote summer theater so that’s why it is being done the same week residents could have an opportunity to enjoy some of the restaurants and then make their way to ‘Footloose.’ ”

Feast Brunswick Week will coincide with the East Brunswick Arts Coalition’s first “Summer Stage Under the Stars” production of “Footloose” on July 25-27 and Aug. 1-3 at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center’s outdoor amphitheater, 721 Cranbury Road. Showtime is 8:30 p.m.; the box office and gates open at 5:30 p.m.
For the first time in the 60-year history of Playhouse 22, East Brunswick’s community theater troupe, “Footloose” will be staged outdoors. Guests may bring lawn chairs and enjoy live theater under the night sky.
Cohen said proceeds from the play will go to Playhouse 22.
“Any money that gets donated to the East Brunswick Arts Coalition toward this project, anything that is left over, stays with the coalition to help produce future projects,” he said. “We are hoping that by introducing the arts coalition to the community we have people join up as sponsors of the coalition.”
Playhouse 22’s production of “Footloose” is sponsored in part by the East Brunswick Arts Coalition, with corporate sponsorship from Jane Mueller Re/Max, members of the East Brunswick Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Landis Group, Brunswick Square Mall and Raritan Pharmaceuticals.
Seating will be first come, first-serve, and all guests are required to bring a lawn chair that is no more than 40 inches in height. No blankets will be permitted. All tickets are $7 and may be purchased at footlooseEB.com or in person the day of the show.
