South River council appoints code enforcement officer

SOUTH RIVER – Members of the Borough Council have appointed Thomas Droppa as South River’s new code enforcement officer and building inspector.

Council members took the action on July 8 during a special meeting at the municipal building.

“We need a full-time enforcement officer … we need to stay after people who don’t cut their grass and who put their garbage out three days before (pickup), to keep places clean. … Thar is why (Droppa) was appointed. Welcome aboard,” Mayor John Krenzel said.

Borough Administrator Art Londensky said Droppa would come on board in South River on July 22. He said Droppa was a fire inspector in Metuchen and is a retired lieutenant from the Fire Department of the City of New York.
