NORTH BRUNSWICK – Former North Brunswick Mayor Sylvester Paladino has passed away.

“It was with greatest sadness that we learned yesterday [Nov. 25] of the passing of North Brunswick’s former mayor and councilman, Sylvester Paladino. Sal was a beloved leader in our community and a friend to all. His bright personality and quick smile will be greatly missed,” Mayor Francis “Mac” Womack said.

Paladino was last appointed to the Township Council on Nov. 7, 2016, to fill the unexpired term of Middlesex County Freeholder and former Councilwoman Shanti Narra.

He had served as North Brunswick mayor in 1981 and 1982, and also served as council president in 1989. He again answered the call of public service to fill unexpired terms in 2004 and 2016, Womack said.

Paladino was a former principal of John Adams Elementary School in North Brunswick.

The obituary was not available as of press time.
