The Princeton Adult School (PAS) loves January.
It’s when the PAS course offerings brochure is mailed out to all residents and individuals begin to register for what could be a transformative event in their lives. PAS welcomes individuals from throughout the Princeton area to register now for any one or more of the more than 200 classes available this spring.
Registration remains open until the classes are filled. English as a Second Language program hosts a one-day registration on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 7-8 p.m. at Princeton High School.
According to PAS President Darren Zagarola, the classes and special lectures this semester are wide ranging. The courses embrace the arts, politics, humanities, history, health and wellness, food and drink, business and technology, home and garden, and world languages, including English as a Second Language.
Create an individualized curriculum that will allow students to satisfy a wide spectrum of interests, moods, and skills levels.
Thanks to PAS, individuals can move to the rhythms of “Argentine Tango” or the sounds and beats of “The Sixties: The British Invasion,” with a Beatles scholar. Or people can seek the truth in “Truth AND Consequences—A Conversation about DNA Testing.” On Tuesday evenings, starting March 17, anyone can take an armchair trip to “Africa,” a comprehensive view of the continent.
PAS, born in 1939, is celebrating its 81st birthday, while engaging in contemplative remembrances of two of its devoted board members and instructors who died in 2019. Louise Grafton, a theater prop maker, and Helen Schwartz, an artist, both emanated a joy of living through arts and crafts. They generously shared their creative talents and irrepressible spirit with hundreds of colleagues and students. Grafton and Schwartz exhibited a passionate commitment to the sustainability of PAS, whose charitable, not-for-profit mission is to offer lifelong learning opportunities through in-class and online courses.
