New Jersey Department of Transportation officials announced the start of a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a three-day closure and detour of Hope Road starting on March 18 in Eatontown.
Beginning at 7 a.m. on March 18 and until 7 p.m. on March 20, Hope Road will be closed and detoured in both directions at the railroad crossing between Pinebrook Road and Tinton Avenue to remove the existing crossing and replace it with a new concrete crossing, as well as new asphalt approaches.
Local access from Tinton Avenue will be maintained for residents and businesses. The following detours will be in place:
Hope Road northbound detour:
- Motorists wishing to travel northbound on Hope Road will be directed to turn left onto Pinebrook Road
- Turn right onto Wayside Road
- Turn right onto Tinton Avenue back to Hope Road
Hope Road southbound detour:
- Motorists wishing to travel southbound on Hope Road will be directed to turn right onto Tinton Avenue
- Turn left onto Wayside Road
- Turn left onto Pinebrook Road back to Hope Road
The traffic detours will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
In order to provide safer and smoother railroad crossing, the existing crossing will be replaced with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
