“I have been informed that one of our adult residents passed away due to complications
associated with the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mayor Doug Tomson said in the statement. “Our hearts go out to the family. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.”

Tomson noted his admiration for the Hillsborough community and how residents are handling the coronavirus pandemic.

“I have seen our residents working hard to adhere to the restrictions in order to help one another,” Tomson said in the statement. “I think that most of us realize that our actions affect our neighbors, and we are all doing our part to prevent the spread of this disease. I have faith that as a community we will continue to band together to protect our loved ones and neighbors.”

Spano said in the statement that she and her department will continue to follow up on all reported COVID-19 cases in Hillsborough and their contacts in order to slow the spread of the disease.
