Operator of motorcylce charged in fatal crash that killed passenger in Old Bridge

Police have charged the operator of the motorcycle who allegedly caused a fatal crash in Old Bridge in which the passenger was killed on July 16.

Jack Piatek, 27, of Sayreville, charged on July 18 with vehicular homicide in the second degree caused by driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was also issued several motor vehicle summonses including driving while intoxicated, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said in a statement.

The deceased passenger was identified as Jessica Vinsko, 36, of South Amboy, according to the prosecutor’s office.

During the investigation it was determined that on July 16 at approximately 11:50 p.m., Piatek was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle on Route 35 north in the vicinity of Industrial Drive, when he lost control causing the two occupants to be ejected, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Piatek was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick to be treated for his injuries and the passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Piatek is currently being held in the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick pending a detention hearing.
