The annual Howell Day and Green Fair community celebration has been cancelled for 2020, but is expected to return in 2021.

The decision to cancel the event was announced on Aug. 20 as New Jersey’s residents and local officials continued to deal with the effects of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

“Howell was hopeful the governor’s executive orders (related to the pandemic) would have been modified so we could have held Howell Day, hence our delay in making the call to cancel.

“Unfortunately, we are now to the point that even if the restrictions are lifted we would not have sufficient time to plan the event properly. We are considering the possibility of holding a similar event later in the year,” Geoghegan said.

Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson recently launched its hiring season for Hallowfest to fill positions from Sept. 18 through Nov. 1.

The theme park will hire scare actors and entertainers, as well as other positions in multiple departments, all while conducting virtual hiring and training, according to a press release.

The new Hallowfest fall event will temporarily replace Fright Fest and feature family friendly activities during Thrills by Day, and spooky attractions with coasters in the dark during Chills by Night.

Interested candidates complete applications, interviews, paperwork and park training virtually and contact-free. Candidates may begin by applying online at www.sixflagsjobs.com and can schedule a video interview with a member of the Human Resources team. Auditions for performers and scare actors are conducted virtually through video.
