New Jersey Youth Soccer continued its virtual celebration of the 34th Annual NJYS Awards on Feb. 21, officially announcing Edison United Soccer Association (EUSA) as the 2021 NJYS Recreation Program of the Year.

As part of their acknowledgement, club executive Radu Maris participated in an exclusive interview with Gotham FC defender Estelle Johnson, according to information provided by NJYS.

“We at Edison United Soccer are humbled and honored for being recognized as the 2021 NJYS Recreation Program of the Year,” Angie M. Tarighi, EUSA president, said in the statement. “Our recreation program is the foundational building block for our player and coach development. We are proud to provide a recreational program that develops our soccer players in a fun, positive environment for future competitive levels.”

Edison United Soccer Association members focus on sportsmanship, make sure all players are placed at the appropriate level through a flighting committee, and encourage their coaches to speak to their teams after each game to review what happened and offer guidance on how they can improve, according to the statement.

EUSA asks its staff to provide feedback along with an appropriate evaluation to allow for player learning, according to the statement.

It is the goal of EUSA for their players and parents to develop a love for the game of soccer through its strong commitment to fun and safety for every player, coach and fan, according to the statement.

The virtual celebration of the NJYS Awards, presented by RWJBarnabas Health, will continue over the coming weeks, with award winners being announced and featured in special video interviews.
