WALL TOWNSHIP — Kyle Scisco of Jackson powered from the middle of the field to win the 40-lap Modified stock car main event at Wall Stadium on June 18.
The Father’s Day weekend victory was the “Scisco Kid’s” second career victory in the leading class and the first after just four starts since joining the Ferarra Motorsports No. 31 team, according to a press release.
In a race that was slowed just twice on the 13th lap, Derek Hopkinson of Toms River jumped to the lead early and wrestled with Tyler Truex of Egg Harbor Township in the early going.
Meanwhile, Scisco advanced to the top five after 10 laps and up to the third spot on the second lap 13 restart. Scisco then charged into second as Truex took the lead with 16 laps down and then slipped into the lead with an inside lane pass on Truex on lap 24.
From that point on Scisco rolled to the victory over Truex, Hopkinson, Brick Township’s Eddie McCarthy and Jackson’s Steven Reed. Points leader and recent Garden State Classic winner Andrew Krause of Holmdel was sixth.
“This sport is all about the people and about relationships,” Scisco said after the win. “I have to thank Steve Ferarra and his entire race team for taking me in and making me feel like family.”
The Factory Stocks were also in the spotlight with a pair of 25-lap main events.
In the first feature race, Kevin Flores of Brick Township raced to his first win after coming close several times. Freehold’s A.J. Jadacki was the runner-up, while Bryan O’Shea of Neptune City, Shanon Mongeau of Howell and Farmingdale’s Doug Ashford wrapped up the top five.
Mongeau came back to win the nightcap for the Factory Stocks, taking the lead near the halfway mark of the race. Tom Rajkowski of Woodbridge, the early leader, was the runner-up over Manchester’s Scott Riggleman, O’Shea and Howell’s Brian Osborn.
Michael Carr of Point Pleasant held off former champs Jarret DiGiantomasso of Jackson and Howell’s Kevin Davison to win the Sportsman stock car 25-lap race. Larry Thompson of Parlin and Hazlet’s Chris Silvestri wrapped up the top five.
Hazlet’s Billy Pross won his third 25-lap Fast 4 main event of the year, taking the lead from eventual runner-up Alex Greatz of Wall Township. Logan Fraser of Toms River, Wall Township’s Sean Vuksanic and Ryan Bilello of Neptune were third through fifth.
Kevin Nowak of Medford, N.Y., won the 20-lap race for the Legend Cars over Tanner Jones of Glen Gardner, Joe Parker of Neptune, Joe McGrath of Howell and Peter Bruno of Little Silver.
The 2022 Wall Stadium season continues on June 25 with the Modifieds, Sportsman cars, Factory Stocks, Fast 4’s Limited Late Models and TQ Midgets in action. Grandstands open at 4 p.m., qualifying begins at 5 p.m. and the main events get underway at 7 p.m.
