Trenton man charged with weapons offense and assault

A 25-year-old Trenton man has been charged with a weapons offense and assault after he allegedly pulled out a knife and refused to obey police commands, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

A police officer responded to the Colonade Motel on Route 130 to investigate a disturbance April 3, police said. When he arrived, he noticed a man involved in the incident walking past the Wendy’s fast food restaurant.

When the man saw the police officer, he allegedly displayed a knife, police said. Additional police officers responded and told the man to drop the knife.

The man allegedly refused to drop the knife, but eventually tossed it into a nearby trash can, police said. He was agitated and allegedly refused to comply with the arrest process, police said.

The man was charged with resisting arrest, issuing terroristic threats, weapons possession (for the knife), and assault on law enforcement.

Additional charges included obstructing, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was processed and taken to the Mercer County Correction Center.
